Facebook launches “My Digital World” to meet digital literacy needs across Sub-Saharan Africa

Facebook has launched a new virtual digital skills training program- My Digital World- targeting 20,000 young people in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire, and Ethiopia.

Participants will have access to instructor-led live webinars on digital marketing, media and digital literacy, online safety and privacy, and digital citizenship, all delivered through Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook has over the years trained thousands of people on digital literacy skills and this program is a consolidation of all the company's digital literacy programs including Safe Online with Facebook, Ilizwe Lam, and eZibo.

“Never has it been more important to invest in, and train communities and the next generation of leaders to better understand and utilise the power of digital tools to take full advantage of what the internet has to offer.”- Phil Oduor, Policy Programs Manager for Economic Impact and Digital Literacy, Facebook.
